Styling the Mister for a Day

I enjoy playing dress up as you should all know by now. I also enjoy dressing other people up, especially the Mister and the toddlers. Back in my stylist days, I use to take delight in shopping for others and dressing them up. Every now and again, I still find the time to style outfits for others, especially the Mister. He does not like shopping, so I pretty much do all the shopping for him. And I enjoy doing it.

If I was asked to dress him up for a day, here are the pieces I would pick from the SS16 Collection at House of Fraser:

Polo Ralph Lauren Custom-Fit Short Sleeve Polo Shirt £75

We love Ralph Lauren Polos in our house. They are iconic and super quality. We have quite a few we got some years ago, and they still look as good as new.

This royal blue piece would look amazing on the Mister. It is an amazing colour, would suit his skin undertone (more on undertones later this week, so look out for the post), and it is a perfect colour for the summer. The price tag may appear heavy at £75, but quality does not come cheap.

Versace Jeans Tiger Slim Fit Indigo Jean £120 £84

I have had my eye on this piece for a while now and I am extremely happy to see it is now on sale for £84. This Versace Jeans Tiger slim fit indigo jean would look amazing paired with the Ralph Lauren Polo. I like the shade of the blue, and I like the fact that it is slim fit. It would look amazing on Mister, that is for sure.

Tommy Hilfiger Suede Lace-up Trainers £85 £59.50

This Tommy Hilfiger Suede Lace-up Trainers is also on sale at the moment, which is brilliant. I love the compact design. The grey suede is a beauty, and it would complement the blue Polo shirt and Versace jeans perfectly. And I know the Mister would love it too.

Calvin Klein 2 Pack Fine Stripe Socks £12 £6

A bloke can never have too many socks, right? And an outfit with trainers will never be complete without socks. The Calvin Klein stripe socks is a good deal at just £6 at the moment. I like the simple design so much. It would be a lovely addition to his socks collection.

These are the pieces I would be picking up if I was asked to style the Mister for a day. What do you think of these pieces? Sound off in the comment section please.

Thanks for reading  and have a lovely Friday.

My Bidvine Experience

videography Image

I came across Bidvine – a free virtual personal assistant website for hiring photographers, caterers, handymen, and local services, some days ago, and I was eager to try the service. I am always up for anything I can do online, rather than over the phone. Apart from the fact that I have a trail of all I have done incase I need to refer to it in future, I hardly have the time to get on the phone these days. Life is way to busy, so anything I can do online makes my life easier, and that is right up my street!

We as a family love photoshoots. We love quality photos, and I like the whole idea of being in studio or on location, getting dressed up and having a professional photographer snapping away. We have had 2 photoshoots in the last 2 years, and we have a few planned in our heads. But as you can imagine, photoshoots can be quite pricey, so I decided to check out the photography service on Bidvine, in the Manchester area to get some competitive quotes to compare.

Signing up was quick and easy. I just signed in with my Facebook details, so I didn’t have to register my details. I also found it very easy to navigate the website, it is very user-friendly, so no dummies guide needed. All I had to do was select the service I was after, which was portrait photography, and answer a few service specific questions like – the area I was interested in, which was Manchester, the budget, which was £150 maximum, and a few more. Then all I had to do was wait for the quotes to start coming in. I didn’t have to wait long at all. The first quote came in 10 minutes after.

I got 3 quotes in all, all on the same day, and they were all within my budget which was great. I found the quotes very detailed, all questions I would have had to ask were already answered in the quotes. Questions like how many photos I would get, payment terms, contact details, and so on.

I found the request and quote submission process very efficient. I am always in need of services offered by professionals in my local area, so I know I will be using Bidvine to find them in future. Bidvine is the best marketplace to receive competitive quotes for local services in Manchester.

What do you think of Bidvine? Have you ever heard of this marketplace before?

How to Dress for the Office in the Heatwave

Fashion Blogger UK Outfit Picture

It’s important to dress appropriately when you are going to work. Appropriately would depend on where you work and what you do. Maintaining the professional look can be easy to pull off when the weather is cool. The problem is that when the temperature starts increasing, it gets trickier to find the right clothes that will be suitable for the weather and still look professional.
What, then, are the best outfits to wear during the heatwave? Here are some heat-friendly yet professional outfits you can wear to work, depending on your job:

Light coloured clothing
Work attire is usually known for its dark colours. Dark colours absorb more heat than light colours do. Wear more light coloured clothing like pastels and neutrals to reflect the sun’s rays and keep you cool yet professional.

Lightweight fabrics
Aside from the colour of your clothes, the type of fabric you use is also important when it comes to choosing the right work clothes during the heatwave. Lightweight fabrics like cotton, linen and chambray are ideal to wear when its hot. Such fabrics allow for easy passage of air thus keeping you cooler.

Sleeveless blouses or tops
Sleeveless blouses or tops that can be worn with a blazer are ideal for work when it’s hot and humid. A lovely sleeveless blouse paired with a skirt would give you a professional look. The good thing about having a blazer on is that you can put it on and off when needed.

Skirts and dresses above the knee
Skirts and dresses, which could be short-sleeved or sleeveless, are great when it’s hot and humid. They are more comfortable to wear instead of trousers as they allow air to flow. As a rule, I only wear skirts and dresses when it is hot.

Take note of the type of skirts and dresses you pick for work. It’s more preferable to stick with a single colour. They look more professional. Light flowy skirts and dresses made of materials like chiffon are also great to wear when the weather is hot. You can style your dress with a waist belt and still look stylish and professional.

Light tailored jacket
Jackets are always part of a corporate attire and they are as useful as blazers. You can wear a light cotton tailored jacket over a sleeveless dress, or a blouse and maintain the professional look.

Lightweight trousers
If you have to wear trousers, go for lightweight trousers. Trousers made of light breathable material are great to wear to work. Materials like cotton or linen are ideal for trousers. Linen blended with other light fabrics helps minimize wrinkles. Go for trousers that are loose and that do not cling to your legs. This will help prevent you from overheating!

So there you have it! Feel free to be creative by adding lovely accessories to complement your dressing. A matching bag or purse wouldn’t hurt as well. How are you dressing for the office in the heatwave? Feel free to drop your style tips in the comment section.
